Miss Universe mixup: How it happened
Locally, the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant will be remembered for Olivia Jordan, a Miss USA from Tulsa, making it to the final cut.

“Miss Universe 2015 is Philippines”, he exclaimed.
Harvey’s mistake is not the first time the wrong woman has been named the victor of a high-profile beauty pageant.
A photo of the newly-crowned Miss Universe 2015, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, was posted today with the caption: “my first day as Miss Universe has officially begun”.
Meanwhile, Miss Colombia said after the mix-up “everything happens for a reason”.
It was a gaffe made for the age of Twitter, GIFs, Vines and 24/7 social media snark.
Australia’s Next Top Model host Sarah Murdoch infamously read out the name of the wrong victor of the reality show’s $25,000 prize in 2010.
“I was confused. I wasn’t sure what was going on”, Wurtzbach said.
“Secondly, I’d like to apologize to the viewers that I disappointed as well. He likes laughing at people’s mistakes but now that he’s made an a** of himself he’s wants to go into hiding”. “This was a terribly honest human mistake and I am so regretful”.
“I really couldn’t believe it, I was so upset”, she tells Missosology. “I’m sorry to say that”. But unlike neighboring Venezuela, which has won seven Miss Universe titles, Colombians are accustomed to falling short of the crown, with five runner-up appearances since 1992 including Sunday’s. “I’m so happy”, she said while wiping away tears and being embraced by a group of other finalists backstage.
A number of Miss Universe contestants have also got behind the campaign, including Miss Ireland, Joanna Cooper.
Donald Trump, who used to own the rights to Miss Universe, tweeted on Monday that “this never would have happened” under his watch. Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines was equally stunned and at a loss of what to do.
“This moment will always be with me #missuniverse #misscolombia #backtoback Lo logramos COLOMBIA!”, she captioned the photo.
Vulture’s Joe Adalian, a veteran television industry reporter, said it “wouldn’t shock me” if the crown switcheroo was actually a planned stunt.

“In bagging this victory, Ms Wurtzbach not only serves as a tremendous source of pride for our people, but also holds up the banner of our women and of our country, as a true representative of what the Filipina can achieve”, he added.
