Missed out-of-bounds call aides Tar Heels in final minute
On Tuesday, the NCAA released ratings for the 2017 national championship game between the North Carolina Tar Heels and Gonzaga Bulldogs. The refs were taking heat on social media for calling a held ball, which gave possession to the Tar Heels, on a pile-up underneath the Carolina basket.

But UNC pulled ahead and kept their lead to win the national championship, and after the game, several Tar Heels players gave glory to God.
“It was an ugly game”, North Carolina coach Roy Williams said. Remember, he tested the National Basketball Association waters past year before returning to campus. They played efficiently throughout the season and NCAA tournament.
The North Carolina Tar Heels’ six point win against the Gonzaga Bulldogs in Monday’s NCAA title game should’ve been an all-time contest. They have scored 20 or more second-chance points 16 times this season and they won all of those games.
But not Monday night. With two minutes left and the game tied, Jackson put together a big “and 1” play underneath before Gonzaga’s Williams-Goss rolled his ankle. The problem was that photos of the play show Meeks’ hand on the end line while he had his other arm around the ball. North Carolina, which trailed by three at the break, burst into the second half with an 8-0 run that forced Gonzaga coach Mark Few to call a timeout – which, in turn, prompted a roar from the North Carolina bench as the team gathered for a huddle. In the biggest game of your careers, no less.
On Monday, the University of North Carolina battled for the men’s college basketball national championship with a guiding objective: Redemption.
Hicks finished with 13 points and nine rebounds, his most since the regular season finale against Duke eight games ago, to go along with two blocks, a assist and a steal. And his teammates knew all along he had it in him.
“So nobody made me aware of it or I certainly would have within the last minute there or 2 minutes”, he said.
“People asked me the last day and a half if he was going to come”. This resulted in both teams’ big men struggling with foul troubles thus hindering each offense.
The season began with an easy win over Utah Valley on November 11 and the Zags rolled to victories in their first 29 games.
“It was just such a huge, lovely tie-in”, Wiedbusch said.
Roy Williams has spoken out against President Donald Trump before, making it unclear if Tar Heels will visit White House after National Championship win. He wasn’t going to let a little foul trouble cut short the best game he’s had in weeks. However, the Bulldogs outside game was working quite well.
“We broke the glass ceiling everybody said we couldn’t get over”, Mathews said. I told him, ‘We’re about to take this thing.
“I felt like I just willed my way to the rim”, Hicks said, wearing one of the nets he’d just help cut down like a triumphant necklace.

But don’t think for a moment he was undeserving.
