Missing Boy: Body Found On Building Site

Conley Thompson, from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, had gone to play with his friends at Locke Park at around 6pm.

Conley had gone to meet friends in the town’s Locke Park on Sunday evening, spending two hours with them before leaving to walk the two miles home at around 8pm.

“The construction site, where Conley was sadly discovered by construction workers this morning, was checked by officers during the hours of darkness and found to be securely locked with a large perimeter fence”.

She went on to explain “the death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course… our thoughts remain with Conley’s family and friends at this very hard time”.

The rev Revor Keightley, vicar at the church, said: “We are all shocked and all our hearts go out to the family and our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time”.

“I just remember him as a really happy lad”. She added: “It makes it worse because he’s the same age [as her son] and everyone knew him”.

“He played with all the kids in the area”.

Concern is growing for the welfare of a young boy who went missing while playing out with friends. “The whole community is in shock”.

Police on Bank End Road in Worsbrough, Barnsley. I’m telling you they should have found that bairn last night. His body was found in Worsborough, near Barnsley, on Monday morning. If a security guard was on site then he would have spotted it and would have prevented it from happening.

“The investigation continues into the cause of Conley’s death and we are working with the Health and Safety Executive as part of that investigation”, South Yorkshire Police added.

The company was Piletec Geotechnical Ltd based in Rotherham, who, their website states, offer specialist and innovative Soil Nailing, Ground Anchoring and Piling techniques with industry experience and expertise dating back over 40 years.

He said Piletec was employed by Erris Homes.

“Police came round last night asking and my kids told them he might be playing at the construction site. I cannot begin to picture through that family are getting what”, he said.

Police have made a number of enquiries to trace Conley’s location.
