Missing father of golfer Billy Hurley found safe in Texas

That’s according to an officer with the Clarksville Police Department, who says she made contact with Willard Hurley Friday after an employee at a local library recognized the man who had been missing since leaving his home in Leesburg, VA 12 days ago.

“He’s safe and sound and he wasn’t very talkative”, Dube said.

“My dad took some clothes and he took some cash, he got in his truck and he drove away”, said Hurley, of Annapolis.

Now that his father has been located after going missing from his home in Leesburg, Virginia, Hurley will try to put the emotion of this week behind him as he competes over the weekend.

Billy Hurley III is playing this week in the Quicken Loans National, a PGA tournament in Gainesville, about 20 miles south of Leesburg. The elder Hurley was unharmed and told police he had simply been traveling. We will see if he makes any announcement Friday.

His son said he decided to go public in the hopes someone will come forward with useful information.

His son broke down in tears Tuesday while announcing to the media that his father was missing.

He said he only found out on Monday that his father had disappeared.

Willard Hurley never reached out.

“Right now, we have no reason to believe that there’s any suspicious circumstances surrounding his disappearance”, Dube said.

Hurley said he had a hint something was going on with his father when television cameras began covering his round.

Hurley, a 33-year-old Naval Academy graduate who served as a US Navy officer for five years, realized that news about his father was likely when he noticed a television cameraman following him during the second round.
