Brooklyn Smith insists she is “physically fine” and told WSB she is not with her father, Steven Spires, but with friends.

‘She’s so young and so impressionable that she may have been somewhat brainwashed, if you will, into believing what her situation is, ‘ Sgt Stephen Wilbanks of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office told Fox 25.

“The arrest followed a brief standoff when Spires initially refused to exit the hotel room to surrender to law enforcement personnel”, according to a Spalding County Sheriff’s Office release.

Spires’ girlfriend, 19 year-old Carmen Clay was also arrested.

Brooklyn Smith disappeared from the driveway of her mom, Salena Smith, on July 27 after getting into a black auto.

At this time the Hall County Sheriff’s Office as well as family members have reason to believe she is with her biological father, 31-year-old Steven Spires. She was last seen getting into a black Ford Taurus in the driveway of her home at 2:28 a.m. on July 27.

Brooklyn’s mother, Salena Smith, doesn’t believe that story. She’ll protect him, and she called the news and said ‘I’m not with my dad.

Police say Spires is a suspect in his daughter’s disappearance.
