According to reports, Cavanaugh was last seen riding through the trails of Rock Creek on a Yamaha YZ 250 motor bike somewhere between Mosquito and Garden Valley.
Gentle Blythe, spokeswoman for San Francisco Unified School District, said the school is anxious about Cavanaugh, a popular veteran teacher. He was preparing to return to school to teach in the fall, she said. “He has been at Downtown High School for many years and is a beloved part of the community”. Friends and family of Cavanaugh have also joined in the search for Cavanaugh, a teacher. Trails in the Rock Creek system are in the Georgetown Divide, between the towns of Mosquito and Garden Valley, as stated by the sheriff’s office. Crews from El Dorado, Yolo, and Stanislaus Counties are heavily scouring the wilderness area, which is located about 80 miles east of Sacramento and just west of Lake Tahoe.
Crews were searching the El Dorado National Forest in California Sunday for a missing Long Island native. “Cavanaugh is described as being about 5’11” tall and 160 pounds in weight.
