“Everybody in Kashmir wants peace and normalcy to return”.
The state government has placed Chairman of moderate Hurriyat Conference faction Mirwaiz Umer Farooq under arrest at Chashme Shahi sub-jail, JKLF Chief Yaseen Malik at BSF camp in Humama while hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani continues to be under house arrest.
Apart from political parties, groups of academicians, teachers and student associations, representatives of school management, prominent NGOs, representatives of Leh, Kargil, Pahari associations, Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Fruit & Saffron Growers associtions and civil society also meet the delegation. Asserting that Parliament is very serious about the prevailing situation in the Kashmir valley, he said the Centre and state governments are of the view that situation in Kashmir needed to improve. However, the responses from the other side can not be categorized as Kashmiriyat nor Insaniyat (humanity).
The delegation held a meeting with Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
“The people attempted to talk to them, but they refused”, he said.
“Not only our doors, but our window ventilation is also open for anyone who wants to talk to us for bringing in peace and normalcy in the state within the ambit of “jamhooriyat, ‘ “Kashmiriyat” and ‘insaniyat”, he said, refusing to comment on whether any backwater channels had been opened to engage the separatists. “There is no track one, two, three or four”, he said. Whether or not the separatists will be considered to be a part of the stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir was not mentioned.
Talking to reporters after the meeting Ram Madhav said, the meeting deliberated on the Kashmir situation and that future course of action will be decided after the all party meeting to be held today.
“I am sure nobody will die by the use of PAVA shells during mob control”, he said.
“It is important to understand the root of this discontent and tackle the situation otherwise it would be hard to bring normalcy in the Valley”.
“Steps may be taken to scale down their foreign visits and facilities like medical treatment as well”, sources said, as per IANS.
“Do not take it outside the country”, he said.
Observers accused the Hurriyat of indulging in politics as they are least concerned about the ongoing violence in the valley due to which several innocent people are losing their lives.
The separatists for their part had asked “people like Rajnath Singh” not to give them lessons in democracy, and rejected the talks because they had no specific agenda.
