Sources say the officer is still alive, but has been shot in the head. Couch was found on the street outside a convenience store that had been robbed late Saturday by two masked men.
The two hooded suspects, who are still on the run, were captured on a surveillance video. Two clerks fled through the back door.
Luckett said that he was “shot and struck” in the head during an investigation.
Cpl. Derrick Couch is in critical condition after being shot by a suspect while investigating the robbery, according to Clarksdale Mayor Bill Luckett.
While Couch is recovering from the incident, this week has been particularly bloody for police around the country.
