Mississippi State 51, Arkansas 50

The Razorbacks averaged 50.3 points in their previous four games, so it isn’t as though the Mississippi State defense did unreasonably poorly. “We, obviously, were not able to execute the most monumental, easy thing we have to be able to accomplish, which is a field goal inside the 20-yard-line”.

“Getting to the edge, we just didn’t tackle well, couldn’t get off the field”, said Arkansas junior linebacker Brooks Ellis.

North Carolina (-51⁄2) over VIRGINIA TECH – After dropping their opener to SC, a game they could have won, the Heels have ripped off nine straight wins.

Arkansas running game took a big blow, as 2014’s leading rusher Jonathan Williams went down with an injury that is forcing him to miss the 2015 regular season. Prescott had a 44-yard completion to Gabe Myles to set up a 4-yard touchdown keeper by Prescott.

“The passing game was working pretty well”, said Allen.

The team that had the ball last looked to be the victor.

Drew Morgan – 7 catches, 84 yards, and a touchdown. The Razorbacks forced a few turnovers and put some quick points on the board to take an 11-point lead, but gave it up after two quick possessions. Arkansas’s pass rush only got to Prescott twice.

Arkansas scored one more time before the half, after another impressive drive by BA.

Deatrich Wise Jr. had a sack and strip on Prescott and Taiwan Johnson recovered for the Razorbacks, returning to the Mississippi State 40.

Previous year in Starkville, Allen threw 238 yards but didn’t have a touchdown. “I’ve been through a couple of heartbreakers since coming to Arkansas, but that one might be at the top of it, just to be that close in that type of a game and to walk out empty handed”. Kevin Richardson halting the Bulldogs first drive of the half with a diving interception that Allen turned into a touchdown to make it 31-28 Mississippi State.

The Allen to Cornelius pass and ensuing Hedlund PAT with 52 seconds left before half narrowed Mississippi State’s lead from 31-14 to 31-21 at intermission. “… We’ve just got to get the front end of our calendar to match the back end, and we’ll be on our way”. And prior to his days in Florida, Mullen helped groom Alex Smith into a No. 1 overall pick as Utah’s quarterback coach.

It was Allen who poached on the miscues, throwing his fourth, fifth and sixth touchdowns of the game in a 5:04 span, the last of which was an 18-yard strike to Hunter Henry. BA capped off an incredible drive by becoming a wide receiver on the 2-point conversion, catching Jared Cornelius’ throw to give Arkansas the 50-44 lead. He also said he warned his Hogs to not listen to the hype and bluster they might hear on campus. He engineered a 6-play, 82-yard drive.

In the second half, Prescott had a 3-yard touchdown, a 10-yard touchdown to De’Runnya Wilson, and the game-winning 14-yard touchdown to Fred Ross.

“We are rolling right now and the mentality of the team is that everyone feels like that”. “What’s done is done, we will now move into preparation mode for Missouri”.

“It’s tough, but we have one more game left this season”, said Allen. “It’s senior night, a lot of seniors are ready to play, a lot of emotion for next weekend”.
