Missouri QB Maty Mauk suspended for rest of season

Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk has been suspended for the remainder of the season for disciplinary reasons, the school announced on Sunday. What we did here (with Mauk) is exactly like I’ve always done it. That’s what we do. “A lot of other places would find ways to get the problem solved without doing what we do, but we don’t do that at Missouri”. They’re your family. We do the same thing here.

Mauk had been reinstated to the team on October 25th after missing the previous four games for a violation of program policies.

Several teammates remarked about Mauk’s sincerity.

“You don’t like self-inflicted ones that tap in internally”, Pinkel said. “You believed him and you trust the kid”. Mauk threw for 654 yards (with a 51.8 percent completion rate) with six touchdowns and four interceptions prior to his first suspension.

Mauk’s replacement will continue to be Drew Lock, who started all four games while Mauk was suspended the first time.

Mauk, a junior, has posted a 17-5 record as Missouri’s starting quarterback since 2013. “He’s really excited to be back”, Pinkel said Wednesday on the SEC coaches teleconference.
