Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk suspended for disciplinary reasons

Neither Mauk nor Cuellar will be allowed to play Saturday versus South Carolina.

“I’m OK (with the fact) people have high expectations of him”, Andy Lock said.

According to the athletic department, both players have been suspended for violating team rules.

If Lock can continue to be a more precise arm for Missouri and help open things up in the running game, he might be exactly what the Tigers need to snap out of this cold start to 2015.

Missouri freshman quarterback Drew Lock will garner the attention and headlines as he prepares to make his first career start, but Tigers coach Gary Pinkel is more concerned about everybody else.

“Their other quarterback is a good player”, Spurrier said of Lock. “We’ll just do what we do”. Most teams don’t really change their offense all that much when they change quarterbacks. So who knows, maybe he plays better than the guy before him. “Only time will tell”.

Through his passing struggles, Mauk is Missouri’s second-leading rusher with 145 yards on 36 carries, and he’s the only Tiger to find the end zone on the ground this season.

Lock has played in every game of his freshman season so far, completing 15 of 25 passes for 225 yards.

Missouri has thrown 73 percent (counting sacks as passes) of the time when Lock has been in as opposed to 51 percent with Mauk.

“It’s a great opportunity, and I think he’ll do well …” “Even in his best days, Maty Mauk isn’t particularly consistent… They’re the same plays, so we just do what we do”. Nunez passed for 184 yards and rushed for 123 in a 31-14 victory over Central Florida, handling “about everything” in USC’s playbook, Spurrier said. “I don’t know what’s happening, but a lot of us are playing a lot of true freshmen”. He sort of swept up the game against Georgia, but we didn’t throw much. “I’m very thankful that we got him a few of the work, that he has a few experience”.

Junior quarterback Maty Mauk has been suspended for Saturday’s game against South Carolina, according to a statement from spokesperson Chad Moller.

The school announced on Tuesday that they have suspended Mauk for Saturday’s game for disciplinary reasons.

The coach did acknowledge that Mauk could be emotionally distressed due to his father’s health, but did not say that could be painted as an excuse and nor would his QB try to do so. How is he going to react when he’s not expecting to head right back to the bench after he gets his series or two?
