Missouri state of emergency extended another day in Ferguson

According to the Guardian, St. Louis County patrolman Todd J. Bakula recently posted images to his personal Facebook page from his vacation to Defiance, Missouri. The group centered themselves on West Florissant Avenue, which was the hub of the protests on the one year anniversary of Brown’s death. The decision was made on Monday.

On Sunday night Ferguson police shot an 18-year-old, wounding him, after he allegedly shot at the officers several times.

Brown was shot and killed after a confrontation with Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson on August 9, 2014. Police say the short clip from the security camera show Harris, 18, pulling a gun from his waistband, reports BBC. When they didn’t comply, officers advanced and took several people into custody.

“We understand the post is controversial”, McGuire wrote. Dozens of people were arrested on Monday when they blockaded a St Louis court house in an act of civil disobedience, and when they briefly blocked a local freeway. But violence like that in Ferguson only detracts from the quest to stop police shootings.

A St. Louis County policeman who boasted of how he spent his “annual Michael Brown bonus” has prompted an investigation by the department.

“The St. Louis County police department takes these allegations very serious in every case”, McGuire added. “Last year, the figure was 39 percent”. Other officers were on the street, wearing riot gear.

After days upon days of rioting the U.S. Justice Department stepped in to investigate the death of Brown and Ferguson’s justice system.

“Overall”, he noted, “the attitude seemed a little tougher than during the November protests, where it was a large diverse group and the majority actually wanted to protest peacefully – but a minority grabbed all the attention with looting, starting fires, et cetera”.
