Mistake costly for Teheran as Braves fall to Marlins 6-2
Miami Marlins baserunner Justin Bour is tagged out at home plate by Atlanta Braves catcher Ryan Lavarnway (30) as he tried to score on a hit by teammate Derek Dietrich during the fourth inning of a baseball game in Miami, Saturday, September 26, 2015.

Bour’s first-inning homer gave the Marlins a 2-0 lead, but the Braves answered an inning later on Bourn’s two-run single.
Bour hit a two-run homer, Nicolino pitched seven solid innings and the Miami Marlins beat the Atlanta Braves 6-2 Saturday night. Bour was 7 for 12 in the series with four home runs and eight RBIs. Tom Koehler takes the hill, and he’s 10-14 with a 3.94 ERA and 130 strikeouts this season.
Miller (5-17) allowed three unearned runs against the Marlins, partly because of his own error. He benefited from four double plays behind him.
“He is taking tremendous at-bats”, Jennings said of Bour.
“It was definitely an interesting game”, said Freddie Freeman, who hit his 18th homer and singled twice for Atlanta.
“Before the game I was in the cage and Seitz (hitting coach Kevin Seitzer) asked how it was, and I said I could tell it’s a little bit worse today”, Freeman said. Since then, Miller has allowed two earned runs or fewer while pitching at least six innings 11 times, but the Braves have been unable to break through as the team spiraled from.500 in early July to a 90-loss season.
Nick Swisher homered for Atlanta, which has a major-league low 94. Sometimes it just gets him. The last time Atlanta failed to reach 100 in a season was 1988.
“We’re going to watch that play all post-season”, Jennings said. “When you score four off of Fernandez in the first inning, you feel pretty darn good, because he doesn’t give up four in three starts”.
Braves: Freeman (wrist) is planning on seeing a doctor Monday…. C Christian Bethancourt (left thumb) missed his fifth consecutive game and remains day to day.
Marlins: RF Giancarlo Stanton (left hand) has not made a decision on whether he will return this season.
After Bour’s first-inning homer, the Braves cut their deficit to 2-1 in the third.
“It seems when guys are making mistakes, he’s getting them and he’s making them pay for it. That’s huge because one swing of his bat can put up two, three runs and that’s big for us in the middle of that lineup”.
