I’m going to a fundraiser for the Republican Party.

You have a new presidential candidate, an independent conservative, Evan McMullin, come from Utah.
While Cruz made an appearance at the RNC, a few of Trump’s defeated primary rivals skipped the big Cleveland event, including the governor of The Buckeye State John Kasich.
Find another candidate to rally round: Without Mr Trump leaving the race, a replacement is impossible under party rules.
It was another contentious week on the 2016 campaign trail, with new controversies from GOP nominee Donald Trump sowing further anxiety among Republicans. Some evangelical communities, you see Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state, she is gaining in a state like Georgia. If Republicans truly believe that Trump is a threat, then active opposition is required. “No, it’s not, because we’ve taken every avenue out there available to us to tell you that he’s a flawed candidate and we need to take a different path”. But with the general election now in full swing, any time spent in a solidly blue state feels atypical.
Many say Trump encouraged violence this week when he suggested “maybe there is” something supporters of the Second Amendment could do to stop Clinton from choosing Supreme Court justices. “But at the end of the day, I know he’ll be a great president, if he can win”.
McConnell, who has publicly backed Trump, didn’t hold back about his assessment of the billionaire candidate’s current political position, saying about both Trump and Hillary Clinton, “It is a statement of the obvious that neither of these nominees are widely appealing to the American people – to put it mildly”.
In recent weeks Trump has seen a steady stream of moderate Republicans vow not to support him, such as U.S. Senator Susan Collins of ME, while 50 Republican national security experts signed a letter opposing him.
The signatories include former Republican Senators and Representatives and former RNC staffers. They’re telling us that Trump hasn’t the temperament or experience to be president. “For the last week or so, he’s been very focused and very much on his game”.
Is this the kind of thing that the party leadership has to worry about or can they just ignore it all?
His unceasing negative headlines certainly aren’t helping, and that’s what frustrates these establishment Republicans.
“He can’t simply continue to preach to the choir and think he’s going to put together a coalition that will win the White House”, said Ryan Williams, a party strategist and former aide to 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney.

At the Charles and David Koch donor retreat in Colorado Springs earlier this month, many donors say that while they are discouraged by Trump at the top of the ticket, they are actively supporting efforts to keep the House and Senate in Republican control.
