Mkhitaryan gives Manchester United derby injury worry

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has suffered an injury scare whilst on global duty with Armenia, prompting concerns over his availability for the Manchester derby on September 10.

Mkhitaryan picked up the injury following a collision with Marek Suchy during Armenia’s friendly with Czech Republic on Wednesday night, as seen in the video below.

The Sun is reporting that Mkhitaryan is an injury doubt for his club’s early season clash with Manchester City on Saturday week after hurting his knee in an off-the-ball incident.

But, according to Armenian news source NEWS.am, Mkhitaryan was merely withdrawn as a precaution.

Armenia’s other rivals in FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifying round are Romania, Poland, Denmark, Montenegro and Kazakhstan.

Jose Mourinho, who has his fears over the worldwide break, will be hoping the 27-year-old has not suffered anything serious following United’s flawless start to their Premier League campaign.

Indeed, per Gilbert, the Special One spoke to MUTV regarding the global break and expressed worry for his players: “We keep eight outfield players and Sam Johnstone as the goalkeeper”.

City’s major concern centers around star striker Sergio Aguero and the club must respond to a Football Association charge of violent conduct against the Argentina worldwide on Thursday.
