Mkhitaryan joins Mourinho revolution at Man United

The Armenian playmaker will become the third new arrival of the Jose Mourinho era after deals for Eric Bailly last month and Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Friday were agreed. The Dortmund winger had been rumored to be joining Manchester United, but now MUFC appears to have confirmed the transfer by accidentally selling shirts with his name on via the official shop. Mourinho continues to revamp the squad at Old Trafford.

Dortmund paid 27.5 million euros (US$31 million) to Shakhtar Donetsk for Mkhitaryan in 2013.

Despite the squad being devoid of three key men, Klopp, who signed Armenia global Mkhitaryan in 2013 for a club record £23.6million, expects them to be challenging again next term.

Dortmund chief-executive Hans-Joachim Watzke had earlier said a decision would be made this week on Mkhitaryan’s future, with the Bundesliga club ready to accept United’s latest offer. The player would have left us on a free transfer in 2017 had we refused the offer. “And all we would have done is delay the issue for another year”.

Dortmund have already lost two big players this summer in the form of Ilkay Gundogan, who joined Manchester City, and Hummels, who moved to German champions Bayern Munich.

Mkhitaryan is arguably the most significant departure, as he was at the crux of so many brilliant displays turned in by the team last season.

The Germans then concluded their statement by wishing Mkhitaryan the best with United in the Premier League AND Europa League next season.
