Mkhitaryan: Price tag does not make me certain Man Utd starter

United splashed a sizeable £28million to secure the services of Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund this summer and the Armenian global has been viewed as a marquee signing for new manager Jose Mourinho. “No comment. I think for me it will be easy to play with him because he is a high-quality player, he knows how to keep the ball, how to play with it and how to create space for the others so I’m waiting to work with him”.

“He’s an incredible player, the name says everything”, he said.

Such impressive performances understandably have Manchester United fans excited with regards to Mkhitaryan playing alongside Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic next season, but the 27-year-old believes that there is no assurances he will be a guaranteed starter.

“He has been tipped to shine in his maiden season in the Premier League by former Dortmund team-mate Ilkay Gundogan, with the now Manchester City midfielder saying: “(Mkhitaryan) will have a big, big impact for Manchester United”.

Mkhitaryan scored 41 goals and registered 49 assists in 140 games during his three seasons with Dortmund. Not bad for a player who predominantly spent last season playing as a winger. I hope he is proud looking at me from the sky.

“It’s always [been] my dream to play Premier League”.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk player says that his father’s support and help in his career could have been key as he is “sad because I think he could have helped me with his words and his support, but that’s life”.

“I never promise something, I always say that I will try – if you promise something and you don’t do it, you’ll always be under pressure”.

“It doesn’t matter what they bought me for, I am not guaranteed to play the games”, he said.

“I like to [overcome] the difficulties because when you win [despite] the difficulties it makes you stronger, so I’m trying to do everything to come up to a new level”. “But I will do everything to try and help the team”.
