Winners of five of their last six games, they sent veteran left-hander Jorge De La Rosa to the hill Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park.

The Rockies’ previous record for stolen bases allowed in an inning was four – also by the Reds on May 16, 1993 in the bottom of the first inning, per information provided by the Rockies from Elias.

Brandon Phillips had four hits, and Billy Hamilton doubled home a pair of runs during Cincinnati’s four-run second inning off De La Rosa (1-2).

The Reds’ media relations department contacted Elias Sports Bureau to find out the last time the team had done that – and Elias checked back to 1920 and couldn’t find another instance. That’s a monster improvement from the beginning of the season when the Colorado Rockies allowed double-digit runs in three of their first five games. Colorado is wrapping up a six-game road trip before beginning a seven-game homestand versus the National League West-rival Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.

SAN FRANCISCO – Jake Lamb hit a tying homer with two outs in the ninth inning and doubled home an insurance run in the 11th, rallying Arizona past San Francisco.

“A rarity, like an eclipse”, said right fielder Jay Bruce, who matched his career high with two steals. De La Rosa was charged with four runs in two-plus innings.

“My command wasn’t there”, De La Rosa said.

Smyly was in a pitching duel with Boston’s bullpen after starter Joe Kelly left in the first inning with stiffness in his right shoulder.

Jerad Eickhoff (1-2) gave up two runs and five hits in seven innings with nine strikeouts.

Phillips singled, doubled and tripled in his first three at-bats.

Fernandez (1-1) threw 54 pitches in the first two innings but didn’t allow a hit until the fifth.

Robert Stephenson is getting another start for the Cincinnati Reds.

Rockies: 2B DJ LeMahieu was out of the lineup because of tightness in his groin, but was available to pinch hit. He stole third and then scored on Zack Cozart’s single.

The Reds didn’t bludgeon De La Rosa; he just got in his own way.

In Atlanta, Tyler Flowers went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs and Mallex Smith had three RBIs.

The Rockies suffered a tough loss against the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday night, falling 4-3.

He’s limited his last two opponents to two runs – one earned – over 13 innings. He received an injection, and the Reds are hoping he’ll be able to start on Sunday against the Cubs.
