MLB Suspends Rougned Odor for 8 Games for Punching Jose Bautista
Three-game suspensions are often the standard suspension for purposefully hitting a batter with a pitch. He said he could not worry about Odor, as he had too many other things to worry about. Yahoo! Sports’ Jeff Passan added that along with the suspension, Odor will receive a $5,000 fine. The MLB decided that because Bautista did not charge the mound at Bush following being beaned or make any initial physical contact with Odor following his hard slide, that he was not deserving of a suspension. Bautista, Odor, Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson and Rangers bench coach Steve Buechele were all ejected from the game, which the Rangers won 7-6. According to Major League Baseball rules managers and coaches can’t appeal their punishments. I want to be with my team all year.

The eight game suspension is actually less than Michael Barrett received in 2006 for his punch on A.J.
“It was pretty cowardly of them to wait until my last at-bat to do that in the whole series”, Bautista said after the game. Afterward, the slugger said he was “confident” in his appeal. “I just play the game to win games”. The two began chirping back and forth until Odor got in Bautista’s face, then pushed the Blue Jays star.
Odor told reporters before Monday night’s game in Oakland that he doesn’t regret the brawl. The flip, which many criticized as overt showboating, was played over and over on TV and left the Rangers angry.
Donaldson offered mostly one-word answers when asked to comment on the rulings.
“It was ugly and unfortunate”, Gibbons said.
Tigers: Manager Brad Ausmus has been suspended for one game and fined after his histrionic ejection from Monday night’s game against Minnesota. “But it takes a little bit of a bigger man, I guess, to knock me down”.
Umpires needed about 10 minutes to restore order after the brawl.
Jays reliever Jesse Chavez was also reportedly given a three-game suspension for intentionally hitting the Rangers’ Prince Fielder with a pitch following the brawl, after both teams had already been warned.
