MLB Trade Deadline: Texas Rangers Acquire Jonathan Lucroy, Jeremy Jeffress
The Brewers had a reported agreement late Saturday night to send Lucroy to the Cleveland Indians, in first place in the American League Central, but on Sunday morning the catcher exercised his no-trade clause and the deal fell apart.

In an unusually move the All-Star catcher for the Milwaukie Brewers, Jonathan Lucroy vetoed his trade to the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
The 30-year-old Lucroy is batting.299 with 13 homers and 50 RBIs this season.
The New York Mets and Texas Rangers were among the teams linked to Lucroy, with New York reportedly offering a three-player package that included the club’s own catcher, Travis d’Arnaud, along with a top prospect and one more piece.
The 28-year-old right-hander was Milwaukee’s eighth-inning man last season and has adapted to become the team’s closer this season, collecting 23 saves in just over a half-season’s worth of work.
According to Ken Rosenthal of MLB Network, the Rangers and Brewers are finalizing a trade to send catcher Jonathan Lucroy to Texas.
Brinson was selected by Texas in the first round (29th overall) of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. In 61 games, he hit.277 with eight home runs and 38 RBI.
Ortiz also was with Frisco this season and was 1-4 with a 4.08 ERA in nine games.
On his verified Twitter account, Lucroy wrote, “Now, moving on to the @Rangers let’s take this bad boy to the ‘ship!”
Lucroy acknowledged the trade in a tweet on Monday. He was a part of the deal that brought Zack Greinke and Yuniesky Betancourt to the Brewers as he, along with Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, and Jake Odorizzi, went to the Royals.
So if Jonathan Lucroy didn’t want to be on the Indians and signed a contract with the Brewers that amounted for exactly that, Lucroy has no obligation to go join the Indians.
The Rangers have only announced one roster move to make room for the new acquisitions: putting Prince Fielder on the 60-day DL to make room for Beltran. Jeffress enters his first year of arbitration at the end of 2016, officially becoming a free agent in 2020.
In exchange for Will Smith, the Brewers acquired 21 year old right hander Phil Bickford and 26 year old catcher Andrew Susac. To put his potential into perspective, the outfielder hit.332 with 20 home runs and 18 stolen bases in 100 games between A+, Double-A, and Triple-A.
The Rangers also get closer Jeremy Jeffress to an upgrade what has been a bit of a shaky pen at times.

Wilson batted.250 (32-128) with 3 home runs and 22 RBI in 42 games with the Rangers this season.
