Mobile 4Q profit triples as it continues adding customers
T-Mobile US managed also reported it had recently entered into agreements to acquire 700 MHz spectrum licenses covering 48 million potential customers, pushing its total 700 MHz spectrum coverage to 258 million pops. “The average revenue per postpaid user … is much higher, and we’ve built off of that into the derivation value to the company”.

T-Mobile added a net 2.1 million customers, including 1.3 million new monthly or postpaid customers in the three months ended December 31. The consensus estimates called for EPS of $0.15 and revenue of $8.2 billion.
This marks eleven consecutive quarters of adding more than one million net customers, and the third consecutive month in which the carrier added two million.
T-Mobile projected Ebitda of $9.1 billion to $9.7 billion this year, and expects to make capital expenditures of $4.5 billion to $4.8 billion. For the full year, it was the second straight year of adding over eight million net subscribers.
Full-year adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization will be $9.1 billion to $9.7 billion, the company forecast. At quarter end, the company had almost 63.3 million customers.
“We set out to change this industry, we’re well on our way and we won’t stop”, Legere said in a release.
While outsiders have criticized T-Mobile’s Binge On, which offers unlimited but lower-quality video from many services, the company credits the service with boosting customer satisfaction. It also added 469,000 branded prepaid net customers in the same quarter.

The fourth quarter was down slightly to 917,000 from the year-ago 1.037 million.

T-Mobile continues to push its aggressive customer acquisition strategy with the addition of 2.1 million customers to its network and 1.3 million post-paid accounts during its fiscal fourth quarter.
