It is the successor to the 2015 launched Galaxy Note 5; and indicates that Samsung has given Note 6 a miss.

Samsung says that pricing will be commensurate with prior Note devices and will be higher than the S7 Edge, which is about $770 to $800.
The Galaxy Note 7 will retail for about $1599.
The new note 7 was unveiled on Tuesday, August 2, during the event in NY.
Based on a new leak, Xiaomi is about to launch a device which resembles the Samsung S6 Edge or Note 7. A United States version will feature a Snapdragon 820 process while the rest of the world will get the Exynos chipset.
Samsung will release the Galaxy Note 7 on September 2nd, with preorders starting august 16th.

Accessories: The Note 5 will come with the Note7 S Pen that lets you write on the screen without unlocking your phone, and a slew of other features.
The new Note 7 features a 5.7inch edge-to-edge curved AMOLED display, top-notch cameras and super fast processor.
The Note 7 can also be paired with the new Gear VR powered by Oculus, allowing users to experience virtual reality anytime and anywhere. Its width is slimmer as well thanks to its bezel-less finish, though the device is heavier at 169g than the Galaxy S7’s 152g.
Users can double up on smartphone security by utilizing both the fingerprint sensor and iris scanner to unlock the phone.
The S pen has been upgraded and you can expect at least better water resistance and much more improved pressure sensitivity, too. It has a 3,500 mAh battery, which can be charged wirelessly. A gold version will also be available in global markets.

For starters, this new phablet has the screen size and S Pen of the Note units. All previous Note devices either had flat screens or a flat screen option alongside an Edge version. It gets even better with the storage as the newer model comes with 64GB and room to expand via a microSD card.
