Mobile stays on a roll as new customers flock to it
During the January to March quarter, T-Mobile said it pulled in 2.2 million total net customer additions, including 877,000 postpaid phone net additions, 164,000 postpaid mobile broadband net additions and a record 807,000 prepaid net additions through its MetroPCS brand. Excluding that gain, adjusted earnings were 10 cents a share.

That brought T-Mobile’s total customer count to more than 65.5 million.
As Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T continue to see wireless subscriber growth slow (despite trying to pad numbers with tablet promotions and integrated vehicles), T-Mobile continues to add new subscribers at an impressive rate.
T-Mobile is kicking off its Q1 2016 earnings call at 8:00 am ET, and I’ll be listening in for any other interesting info that the magenta carrier has to share.
The nation’s No. 3 wireless carrier said it added 2.2 million customers to its network during Q1, easily topping analyst estimates of 1.7 million.
T-Mobile’s investment in Q1 2016 was low as compared with $1.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2015 and up from $1 billion in the first quarter of 2015. Analysts projected adjusted earnings of 10 cents a share on $8.43 billion in revenue, according to Thomson Reuters.
The company raised its guidance for postpaid net adds from 2.4 million to 3.4 million o 3.2 million to 3.6 million.
Shares in T-Mobile rose 2.6 percent in premarket trading on Tuesday, after closing at $41.18 a day earlier.
In terms of profitability, T-Mobile is predicting $9.7 billion to $10.2 billion in adjusted EBITDA, up from its previous range of $9.1 billion to $9.7 billion.
Chief executive John Legere has led the roll out of a series of customer-friendly offers, such as free video streaming plan “Binge On” and social media campaigns in recent years. The company only made $733 million for the entirety of 2015. In line with this effort, T-Mobile has already agreed to acquire more 700 MHz A-Block spectrum licenses and plans to expand its 600MHz offerings.

AT&T is scheduled to report results later on Tuesday. The latest quarter results included $0.46 a share of after-tax impact of the spectrum gain.
