Mobile UnCarrier X Goes Down at 11am Pacific, Watch Here

Notable omissions from the list include YouTube, the world’s biggest video site, and Facebook and Snapchat, which have both made big pushes into video in the past year. You’ll now get 14GB of hotspot data compared to the previous cap of 7GB, and any videos watched on devices connected to your T-Mobile device will not go against your data thanks to the next big feature they’ve announced.

The company is also going a step forward and announcing a new video compression technology that’ll deliver all other content in a compressed, yet high-quality format that uses up to 3x less data than what the content would normally consume. However, the company’s Music Freedom, and now Video Freedom, plans effectively do just that.

Everything launches Sunday, November 15th for those on Simple Choice plans with at least 3GB or more (which should be almost everyone), and anyone grandfathered into T-Mobile’s older plans will be able to get in on the fun starting Thursday, November 19th.

Family Match is also available to unlimited data users: Four lines of unlimited 4G LTE will cost $180 per month. T-Mobile has dropped hints that Un-carrier X might involve video, with the invitation for the event including the phrase “We never hit pause”.

According to T-Mobile’s website, that means a picture quality of 480p or higher.

If Binge On sounds like the video counterpart to T-Mobile’s Music Unlimited offering, that’s because it is.

“With Binge On, no one pays-not the customers, not the video streaming services-and everyone wins”, said Legere. For carrier customers, the surge in wireless video has translated directly into an unprecedented surge in overages.

Legere arrived like a rock star at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, walking a magenta red carpet in T-Mobile regalia (Black sweatshirt with magenta lining and T-Mobile logo) and posing for selfies with T-Mobile employees waiting outside the venue. That’s far below the 1080p standard we’ve come to expect with modern mobile internet speeds.

“Many of our subscribers now enjoy our programming through mobile devices that rely on a data plan”, said Tom Christie, President, Distribution, Business Development and Network Operations, Showtime Networks Inc.

The video is optimized so it won’t waste unnecessary data, CEO John Legere said at the company’s Uncarrier X event on Tuesday.
