Moda Merges With Roland
Exact terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but Kolton said he would remain in control of V-Moda, with a 51 percent ownership stake. Roland’s 808, 909, the contribution to the development of MIDI protocol and countless products helped to lay the foundation and forge today’s music, and together we can carry on the tradition.

The two companies will “together develop the next breakthrough music products”.
Already beloved by many in the DJ and producer community, V-MODA continues to maintain its esteemed stature in the music technology department, only now powered forward with a strategic investment from the revered Roland brand.
The merger sees Roland purchasing 70 per cent stake in V-MODA with the headphone company retaining 30 per cent following V-MODA’s 12 years as an independent, family-owned business. V-MODA, meanwhile, has been cranking out high-end audio equipment and helping to popularize audiophile and fashion headphones since 2004. Their Milano design, material research and professional DJ roots along with their loyal customers are incredible assets for Roland.
This deal isn’t about co-branding with a company that’s better known but for V-Moda it’s about finding a partner with which it can work to expand the scale of its products and back them up with superior engineering resources. “There is no doubt that V-MODA and Roland synergy is going to inspire and disrupt the future of music”. The company’s M-100 headphones helped V-Moda set a new mark in the over-ear genre, offering removable plates for customization, durable construction with a near indestructible headphone band, and punchy sound that blends powerful bass with a clear and detailed upper register.

“On the collaboration side, we get to collaborate with Roland on more products that are music instrument related and electronic / dance related”, V-Moda founder Val Kolton told The Verge.
