The walkway – a four-mile self-guided walking trail of Windsor by the Outdoor Trust – has been created in honour of the Queen becoming the country’s longest reigning monarch.

Later, the Queen will light the first in a chain of 1000 beacons to blaze across Britain and around the world, before attending a private family party at the castle hosted by the Queen’s eldest son and heir to the throne, Prince Charles.
LONDON (AP) – Most people send a card, call, or post on Facebook for someone’s birthday, but President Barack Obama has gone the extra mile – thousands of miles, actually – to deliver 90th birthday greetings to Queen Elizabeth II over lunch at Windsor Castle.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh stood up in the open topped vehicle smiling broadly and waving as it passed slowly past ecstatic crowds who roared their delight and joy.
WATCH: Prince George joined his father William, grandfather Charles, and great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II in stamps issued to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday on Thursday.
The Prince of Wales has paid a touching tribute to his mother, wishing her the “most special and happiest of birthdays”.
“I came when she was 80 and I gave her some tulips that day”, she said. As her majesty holds Princess Charlotte on her lap, 2-year-old Tindall is seen clutching the Queen’s handbag, winning the hearts of many social media users.
She said: “I went for a classic, coffee and walnut cake with marble chocolate disks on the top”.
DURING a stroll around Windsor on her 90th birthday the Queen fixed her gaze on Sussex superfan Julia McCarthy-Fox and said “from the garden again?” as she accepted flowers. The only president during her reign that she did not meet was Lyndon B. Johnson.
It referred to a princess who was “a pattern to all princes living with her/ And all that shall succeed”.
The national Beacon Project forms part of the birthday celebrations, with the Queen herself lighting the Principal Beacon at Windsor Castle.
There’s the real one, which for Queen Elizabeth II is Thursday.
“The queen’s duty and her service, her tolerance, her commitment to others – I think that’s all been incredibly important to me”, he reflected.
“Wev’e had prime ministers by the dozen, but we have the queen who is always there, you know?”
“She is my queen, I made a hat for the Royal Wedding and the olympics, I am really proud to be British”.

For four nights next month there will be a musical pageant in Windsor, involving 900 horses and some 1,500 actors, dancers and musicians, celebrating the queen’s nine decades.
