Modi and Cameron to ‘work together’ on a number of issues
Rather than pulling into Downing Street in his convoy, Mr Modi was brought in on foot via the Foreign Office, apparently to avoid noisy protests taking place outside.

RT examines the key points.
Mr Modi has said the aim is “strengthening cooperation with a traditional friend”.
Cameron described the Indo-UK relations as a “new dynamic modern partnership” and reiterated his country’s support for India’s permanent membership of the UN Security Council.
“Defense manufacturing will be a prime focus in my talks, ” he wrote.
Modi, who flew into the British capital on his much- anticipated three-day visit, was accorded a guard of honour by the 48-member F Company Scots guard accompanied by the regimental band of Irish guards. “The revival of India-UK CEO Forum is a welcome step”, he said.
“This isn’t just a historic visit; it’s a historic opportunity”, Cameron said, calling India and Britain “two countries tied by history, people and values”.
Modi is due to address both houses of Parliament later Thursday. “Will attend a wide range of programmes in United Kingdom”, he tweeted. Later, he would visit the Guildhall where he is scheduled to address the City of London.
Nodi’s first day will be marked by a Red Arrows flypast, followed by a speech to parliament, a meeting with the Queen and a trip to a Mahatma Gandhi statue over subsequent days, culminating in a big fireworks-packed reception coinciding with Diwali at Wembley.
What will Britain get out of it?
India and Britain have close, complex ties dating back to Britain’s time as colonial ruler until the mid-20th century.
Britain and India’s position in worldwide politics has also undergone a change in the last 12 years. Data from 2014 showed India was only worth £2.2 billion (US$3.3 billion) of British exports, placing it behind other European countries such as Switzerland and Belgium.
The letter asks Mr Cameron to demand that PM Modi provide “better protection” for critical voices such as writers and artists and ensure that freedom of expression in India is protected.
Cameron will be hoping to secure a clutch of business deals with the nation he has tried so hard to court.
“UK is one of the fastest growing G-7 economies and is home to a strong financial services sector”, Modi stated. Britain was once the imperial overlord of India, but the situation has perhaps now reversed, with Britain’s government bending over backward as it seeks to tap the huge economic opportunities that India offers (and to a lesser extent, the political opportunities presented by Britain’s Hindu minority). Modi’s visit is expected to yield up to 10 billion pounds. ” More protests are planned during the leader’s visit”.
The swastika, the OM sign in Hinduism, indicated Modi s alleged use of religious symbols for authoritarian ends, the group explained. The swastika is actually the OM sign in Hinduism. While many of Modi’s colleagues were reluctant to denounce the incident, it took more than two weeks for the prime minister himself to react, causing anger across the country.

“There will be people from Hindu groups, Muslim groups Dalits, who have been victims of many attacks [in India], women groups and anti-racism groups, ” said Grover.
