Modi blames Congress for Assam’s problems
PM Modi accused the Congress of neglecting development in the state despite having ruled for a number of years both at the Centre and the state together, and also attacked his predecessor Dr Manmohan Singh, pointing out that he represents the state in the Rajya Sabha.

“They (Congress) didn’t work for 15 years and expect me to do all the work in 15 months”, Modi said while addressing a rally in Guwahati.
Why does Assam have so many problems when the same government is there for 15 years and the state has sent a Prime Minister for ten years…They could not do anything in 15 years and now they want me to solve all their problems within 15 months.
The honourable Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi will be laying the foundation stone of the campus of Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIITG) on Tuesday, 19 January 2016.
In the run-up to the State Assembly elections, Rabiram Narzary’s Bodoland People’s Progressive Front (BPPF) formally merged with the BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary-led Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) in a grand unification rally at Thulangapuri, Dotma in Kokrajhar district today. His address will be transmitted to other institutions though the National Knowledge Network, the mentor director said.
Kokrajhar is the headquarters of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), where 20 of the 40 members belong to the Bodoland Peoples’ Front or BPF, which was born after the militant group Bodoland Liberation Tigers surrendered in 2003. Mohilary expressed confidence that the party would win in all the 16 seats and form the next government in Dispur along with the BJP.
The Prime Minister’s speeches at rallies today in Assam, where assembly elections are due by April this year, launched his party’s campaign in the state. “So what has the prime minister, who was elected from the state for 10 years, done?” The Centre has started asking for the accounts. Modi will address students of IIT, IIITG and students of all central technical institutions in the North-East region, IIITG Mentor Director Gautam Barua said.
Karbi community people living in plains of Assam to be also accorded ST status.
“I was under the impression there is no problem in Assam”.
“I am not bothered if people do not like me but I am bothered about my country’s progress and development and I work to achieve that”, the Prime Minister asserted.
