Modi, Merkel agree to fast-track business deals in India

Germany is already India’s most important trading partner in Europe and both Modi and Merkel have said they are keen to boost two-way trade.
Citing the profound partnership and the significant cooperation between the two countries, Modi said, “We see Germany as a natural partner in achieving our vision of India’s economic transformation. German strengths and India’s priorities are in alignment”, Modi declared after meeting with Merkel.
“Our focus tends to be on economic ties”.
Firming up their bilateral engagement, India and Germany on Monday signed as many as 18 MoUs, including a deal to fast-track business approvals to make it easier for German companies to operate in Asia’s third largest economy. Combating challenges of climate change.
These include agreements to introduce fast-track measures to facilitate investment in the country by German companies, and to cooperate on solar energy projects. The two leaders visited German automotive major Bosch’s facility for a firsthand view of its operations in India.
With India going digital, the Indo-German relations will play a pivotal role in shaping the country into a technology-driven nation.
