Modi, Shah host Diwali Milan lunch for media
Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined the message of non-discrimination as he hosted a Diwali lunch for journalists at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters here today.

Modi also said festivals were a big force in society and infuse it with new enthusiasm and energy.
Hailing Indian festivals as occasions which give a new inspiration to society, he said “The festival of lights (Deep Parva) is also a part of it. There is no discrimination in it. It also strengthens the value of equality”. If you’re taking the Kumbh Mela for instance, a small Europe comes and assembles by the Ganga each day.
It was a repeat of the scenes like past year when Modi reached out to journalists on a similar occasion. Soon after Modi hosted a luncheon for the media fraternity, #ModiMediaGate started trending on Twitter where many termed the entire event as a “selfie circus”.
Journalists take selfies with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the “Diwali Milan” in New Delhi. “It’s good it’s happening now or else we would have had to wait till Christmas”, he jested.
Besides, Union Ministers Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu and Nitin Gadkari, Party President Amit Shah were among those who attended the function.

BJP chief Shah said the party got late in celebrating “Diwali Milan” but he was glad that the tradition continued.
