KOZHIKODE:A week after the Uri terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to isolate Pakistan from the world community, while deftly isolating its government from Pakistanis. I want to tell you that India wants to fight.

From F-16s circling Islamabad skies to a steady flow of unverified reports about reported military movements in India, people on either side of the border have been living under war clouds since last Sunday, when 18 Indian army soldiers were killed in Uri and New Delhi promised retaliation. Indian investigators say the attackers were from Jaish-e-Mohammed, an outlawed militant group based in Pakistan.

“All of Asia is looking to the 21st century with hope, except one country, which is busy exporting terrorism, blood and mayhem in the region and beyond”. “All countries in Asia state there is only one country which is exporting terrorism and has been behind all terror acts”. As the Post reported, one Indian official said it was “shocking” that Prime Minister Sharif could “glorify a self-declared… terrorist”.

Addressing people of Pakistan, Modi said, “I want to address the people of Pakistan today”.

The angry speech was expected, with many of Modi’s supporters and members of his Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party demanding that India hit back hard after the attack on the army base.

BJP spokesperson Shrikant Sharma said Modi looked to strike a chord with Pakistanis by empathizing with them as they have been victims of their own establishments’ whims.

“It is deplorable that India always chooses to blame Pakistan for any incident even prior to conducting a proper investigation”. If you have guts, come forward to fight against poverty.

Addressing Kashmiri and Pakistani diaspora here, he emphasized that the martyrdom of Burhan Wani had infused new vigour in the indigenous freedom struggle of innocent Kashmiris who have been fighting for their right of self-determination for nearly seven decades.

Many protesters, mostly American Friends of Balochistan activists and Indian-Americans, carried placards highlighting the oppression of minorities, women and children in Pakistan and urged the USA government to stop funding Pakistan.

He exhorted Pakistanis to ask its government, when India is exporting software, why is Pakistan exporting terror.

India accuses Pakistan of arming and training insurgents and pushing them into the Indian portion of Kashmir to attack government forces and other targets. “Who is able to defeat poverty and illiteracy first, Pakistan or India” he added.

Is Kashmir really an international issue?
