It’s official. In a coldblooded betrayal, the BJP led NDA government has categorically denied according special status to any state including Andhra Pradesh.
Modi was speaking at a seminar on “new government, good governance and youth politics” attended by Union minister for Skill development Rajiv Pratap Rudy, BJP general secretary and Bihar in-charge Bhupendra Yadav and party MP Gajendra Singh Sekhawat.
BJP’s report card came after Nitish Kumar on Monday released his government’s performance report card listing all achievements of his two terms as chief minister from 2005-2010 and 2010-2015. Assembly elections in the state are scheduled for later this year.
However, he had to eat his own words when he had to receive the visiting Prime Minister at Patna airport recently, Das said sarcastically. “They mostly consisted of contractors and similar persons and their numbers have grown in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar”, Rudy said. It has been more than a year since NDA’s rule and there have been no signs allotting the special status even after occasional protests by the people.
Socio-political analyst Soroor Ahmed said the BJP would find it hard to counter Nitish Kumar’s demand. “But there is nothing new in it”, he said.
To a question that opposition was criticising him for keeping the monsoon session very short of five days only, Kumar said this has been the practise in the past also to fix duration of the session as per load of work.
