Modi was addressing thousands of people, nearly all of Indian origin, at a Grand Community reception in his honour at the iconic Wembley Stadium, home to rock concerts and England’s national soccer team.

He said that 18,000 villages in India that are not connected with electricity will get this basic facility within the next 1,000 days.

And on Friday William and Kate’s Kensington Palace office said the royal couple would make their first visit to India in spring 2016.

Also on stage, British Prime Minister David Cameron garnered applause, telling Indians that they put the “great into Great Britain”. The event is being organised by the Europe India Forum, a non-profit organisation stated by British Indian industrialist Nathu Ram Puri.

“The only stadium that could accommodate Prime Minister Modi at this particular time is Wembley Stadium”. Inaugurating the bust of Basaveshwara in London, Modi said, “When I was with PM David Cameron, he was showing me the Magna Carta. It has to reach remote areas”, the Prime Minister said.

But if my Bharat Mata is clean and swacch, won’t we all be proud and happy? “This image of a relationship cemented by cricket, Shakespeare, Madame Tussauds and a joint liking for a good curry is not entirely false, but it is misleading”.

“When it comes to the United Nations we know what needs to happen – India with a permanent seat at the UN Security Council”, he said.

The politicians fans chanted “Modi, Modi” while wearing masks of his face against the shouts of protestors holding up posters claiming he has human rights abuses against minority Sikh and Muslim communities in India. India can lead the world in the arena of harbouring solar energy. “I see India as I see Britain, a country that is a vibrant multi-racial, multi-faith, multi-ethnic democracy that has very strong public debate, freedom of speech, rule of law and those are things that Britain and India continue to learn from each other”, Cameron told PTI. “At any point in time, not everyone will be happy in that country”.

Cameron has said trade deals worth £9 billion (12.7 billion euros/$13.7 billion) would be sealed during the visit.

“It won’t be long before there is a British-Indian prime minister in 10, Downing Street”, Cameron said citing the contributions of British-Indians in various fields. “Modi received a standing ovation as he prepared to address the crowd”.

I understand their pain on a few issues as well. In order to fulfil this new responsibility I’m investing all my efforts.

“The country belongs to you as much as it belongs to Narendra Modi”, he said.
