“Do you even realize that it is a matter of personal choice and does it need somebody like Mr. Mohan Bhagwat to arrive from Nagpur and tell people how many children they should have?”
The RSS chief, who is on a four-day visit to Agra, addressed almost 1,000 teachers from around a dozen western UP districts.
The audience included university teachers, academics and a large number of teachers from schools in Agra and neighbouring districts. The only solution is to implement the uniform civil code to cap the population of all communities.
“Mohan Bhagwat has tried to present outdated thoughts in a modern way”.
Earlier this year, Union minister Giriraj Singh suggested a two-child norm for all religions, while talking about districts in Bihar where the Muslim population has been increasing at a faster rate than the Hindu population.
Replying to a question of a teacher who said why the government was spending only 1 per cent of the GDP in higher education, Bhagwat said: “Nothing will change in the education system even if the government spends 50 per cent of the GDP unless teachers stop being self-centered…” BSP chief Mayawati, while addressing a rally in Agra, also criticised Bhagwat for this comment on Hindu population.

Further criticising Bhagwat’s statement he added, “He should not give out such speeches, it doesn’t suit the ideology of Hindutva”.
