KTLA reports the woman and her 1-year-old son were likely dead for days.

The cause of death for Ms Tomassian, who is believed to have been around 45 years old, is as yet unclear.

A toddler was left alone for days inside an apartment after his mum died suddenly while feeding his baby brother, who also choked to death.

Tomassian’s other child, a 2-year-old boy, was found alive, but was suffering from severe dehydration.

A friend of the woman’s identified her as Erika Tomassian, an Australian woman who had moved to Los Angeles five years ago. Jenal said authorities are now looking for a new home for him.

“They were wonderful people”, she told KTLA.

Firefighters broke into the apartment through a second floor window, where they found the tragic family around 3pm on Monday.

According to her Facebook page, Tomassian was originally from Sydney and studied film and TV production at Meadowbank Tafe.

Tomassian had recently been treated for bronchitis and may have died from complications from the illness, according to police.

As police would later discover, Tomassian died suddenly while she was feeding her adopted infant son in his high chair.
