A woman and her daughter are facing incest charges after authorities learned the pair were legally married in Oklahoma this year, and that the mother had married her son a few years earlier.
Misty Spann, 25, is charged with incest..
The motivation behind the March marriage was unclear Wednesday, when 43-year-old Patricia Ann Spann and her daughter, 25-year-old Misty Velvet Dawn Spann, made initial appearances in Stephens County district court.
That marriage was annulled in March 2010, according to the record.
The investigator says Patricia told her that she reunited with Misty two years ago and they “hit it off”.
It has since been revealed that Patricia Spann was previously married to one of her sons, Jody Calvin Spann, in 2008.
Patricia Spann told child service investigators that she had lost custody of three children, who were adopted by their paternal grandmother.
Patricia is Misty’s biological mother, according to police.
Documents state Patricia Spann told the DHS worker she had looked into repercussions of the two marrying and “that because her name was no longer listed on Misty’s birth certificate, she felt no laws had been violated”.
The state Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division investigator had visited the Spann’s home in August to check on children who lived there, the court documents showed.

Patricia Spann and Misty Spann both received a $10,000 bond and orders not to contact state witnesses from Judge Graham.
