Couch was moved because the Mexico City facility for detaining migrants is larger and better equipped to hold someone for days or weeks.

Tonya Couch was deported from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico aboard a jet bound for Los Angeles.
She knows this is an unpopular view, considering the four deaths and incalculable emotional damage Couch caused with his drunken driving crash. The Couches were taken into custody Monday evening and handed over to immigration officials.

A Mexican judge is expected to rule next month if and when Ethan will be sent back to the United States.
The woman who fled to Mexico with her son, who is wanted for a probation violation in the so-called “Affluenza case”, was flown to Los Angeles overnight and turned over to the Los Angeles Police Department, authorities said.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Lawyers for a Texas teen who cited “affluenza” as a defense in a deadly drunken-driving wreck may be attempting to stall his deportation to the United States by claiming that Mexican authorities violated his human rights, according to legal experts. A conviction could result in between two and 10 years in jail.
A court in Mexico granted fugitive 18-year-old Ethan Couch a stay against his deportation following his illegal entry into the country, delaying his return by weeks or months, a Mexican migration official said on Thursday, speaking on condition of anonymity.
CNN aired a video that showed Tonya Couch in handcuffs with federal marshals at Los Angeles International Airport. She’s now in a Los Angeles jail, charged with helping a felon to flee…
Los Angles prosecutors say that won’t happen until at least next week.
The Tarrant County district attorney’s office confirmed the arrest to NBC News on Thursday.
A Tarrant County judge set her bail at $1 million. She looks forward to being returned to Texas as quickly as possible. Authorities said she and her son, Texas teenager Ethan Couch, who wa…
In 2013, the teenager crashed his pickup into a group of pedestrians and another vehicle, leaving four dead and several others seriously injured. He was sentenced to probation.
During the sentencing phase of his trial, a defense expert argued that Couch’s wealthy parents had coddled him into a sense of irresponsibility a condition the expert termed “affluenza”. Affluenza is not recognized by the American Psychiatric Association.
Couch had been missing officially since December 10 when he failed to show up for a mandatory meeting with his probation officer. They were arrested Monday after using a phone to order pizza that was traced to a condominium complex in Puerto Vallarta. Couch is staying in the men’s section of the 500-capacity center.
Ethan Couch, meanwhile, has been moved to Mexico City.

“While the public may not like what she did, may not agree with what she did, or may have strong feelings against what she did, make no mistake – Tonya did not violate any law of the state of Texas and she is eager to have her day in court”, the statement said. “They have done everything that they can so far to avoid being accountable, or avoid being brought to justice”, he said. “Because of Ethan’s pending legal issues, Mr. Couch will have no additional comment at this time”.
