Gianfranco Zola dreams of returning to Chelsea at a few stage in the future as the manager at Stamford Bridge.

Less glamorous would be current Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim, but who, in a way, could be a third coming of The Special One after Mourinho himself and Andre Villas-Boas.

“The fans aren’t stupid”, said Mourinho, who returned to Chelsea for a second spell in charge in 2013 and last season led the club to a league and League Cup double.

“My dream, let us say my ambition, is to be Chelsea manager a few day in the future”, Zola told www.sc.qa. Further, when asked about a dressing room revolt, Mourinho added, “I think it’s a very sad accusation because you are using a player, or more than one player, accusing them of dishonesty”, he said, denying that there are any problems between him and his players. Languishing in 15th in the Premier League, can the club’s supporters expect to see the European elite visiting Stamford Bridge next season in the Champions League? “A good result in the Champions League game against Kiev followed by a couple of league wins will do the trick”, said Zola, who played for Chelsea between 1996 and 2003.

“The poor form of key offensive players Eden Hazard and Diego Costa has not helped”.

Klopp described such talk as “crazy” and Coutinho has joined his manager in insisting the hard work is only just starting, with the Reds next in action in the Europa League at Rubin Kazan on Thursday.

Perhaps fittingly for a game played on Halloween, Riyad Mahrez ghosted in at the back post not once but twice, in Leicester’s game against West Bromwich Albion, to overturn a first half deficit and help his team to a 3-2 victory at The Hawthorns. “I think it is unfair to compare Maradona and Messi because they are from different eras”. There were two players always marking him and their only duty was to take him out of the game. I’m just very pleased with the result here.

“There are many things to work on before the next game, and I hope it continues”.

Zola was speaking to officials at Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the body responsible for organising the World Cup finals in 2022, which will be held in the Gulf state.
