Monday morning quarterbacking the Dallas Cowboys Week 1

In his first regular-season game in 700 days, Cruz caught a 3-yard touchdown from Eli Manning, then Randy Bullock split the uprights with the point-after kick with 6:13 remaining as the Giants rallied for a 20-19 victory before a crowd of 92,867 at AT&T Stadium.

The reality is he ran and did what they asked him to do. The Giants dialed up several different blitzes and coverage packages, all of which Prescott diagnosed.

State paid for a billboard in Dallas to support Prescott, but the rookie couldn’t produce a win. He had no turnovers, and looked more than comfortable not only throwing in the pocket, but navigating the offense. “And the safety, he made a hell of a play”. It’s reason for encouragement, and while the Cowboys lost, it certainly wasn’t the fault of Prescott – indeed, were it not for a truly bone-headed decision from Terrance Williams that ended the game, the Cowboys might have even won.

But there was no hand-wringing about Bryant’s limited opportunities _ not by Bryant and not by the Cowboys. “I had to like fist-bump him from a distance and give him a high-five on the sideline”.

That’s only magnified in today’s National Football League, where running backs themselves aren’t valued at the level we saw in the past. That may have worked in college, but it won’t work in the NFL.

“We’ll get him the ball as it comes up in our offense”, Prescott said Wednesday, via the Dallas Morning News. After an interception from Brandon Carr to start the half, the Cowboys then forced three consecutive punts from the Giants.

For those who thought the Cowboys would transition seamlessly from the Romo era to the Prescott era, Sunday’s loss to the Giants was a reminder that Romo had/has the type of field-stretching ability that Prescott will need to exhibit to open up more running lanes for Elliott (20 carries for 51 yards). I’m sure there are doubts about his ability, but he came out and led us. “As an offensive lineman you always want to carry the ball”.

Eli Manning threw for three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score to Victor Cruz in his first game in almost two years, and the Giants beat the Cowboys 20-19 Sunday. The line was good opening holes in the running game and exceptional in pass protection.

Elliott was limited to 51 yards on 20 carries, and consecutive 8-yard runs were his longest, including one for his first National Football League touchdown. Bailey converted another field goal, making him the Cowboys’ leading scorer on the day. A chance is better than no chance at all.

In any event, it’s just one game. “I was just too busy and I’m too much into the game, and it’s just something I should have just followed the rules”.
