Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted he has failed in his role as coach after the club crashed out of the Champions League but reaffirmed he is still the man to take the Red Devils forward.

“I am working very hard to do what we can do”, said Van Gaal, 64.
“So the problem is that we have to meet with the expectations, and the expectations at a club like United are very high”.
Van Gaal’s tactics have been heavily criticised this season as the Old Trafford side have struggled in front of goal and Tuesday’s Champions League exit increased the pressure on him.
Bournemouth have won just one of their seven Premier League home games ( 3D).
“There has been a lot of talk about us changing our philosophy, but I’d like to think it came out on top”, said midfielder Harry Arter. “I think in the outside world, it’s more a problem than in our inside world”.
Barring a few exceptions, Manchester United have been regulars in the knockout rounds of the Champions League for close to two decades but now they will trudge out in Europe’s second tier competition in February.
“You have to analyse the club now”.
Nine players – including captain Wayne Rooney – are out of Saturday’s game at Bournemouth, so Varela and Borthwick-Jackson could start against Eddie Howe’s team. You have seen that.

Louis van Gaal has issued a warning that Manchester United should no longer be expected to win consistently. “We are in that process, but when I say that, I shall have the criticism that football is not a process and things like that”. Borussia Dortmund, Fiorentina, Marseille and Gary Neville’s Valencia lie in wait for van Gaal’s side.

“I try to (lift their spirits) but of course, the players have to do that also by themselves, they are also the professionals”, Van Gaal added when speaking to MUTV.

The club believes they have given the Dutchman more than enough resources to will the EPL this season and will not accept just a top four spot.
