Monk: Swansea have trust in me
Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth is not likely to be the final straw but one Swans supporter tucking into his pub lunch is deeply concerned and thinks it might be time to go with a more experienced manager to ensure the club stay in the Premier League.

“He’s given me his full backing, he’s been extraordinary and he knows how it works”, said Monk.
“I speak to the chairman every single week”. He has given me his full backing.
“He understands unity is the only way through it. He fully supports that, as the players do, as I do – everyone at the club, that is how you get through these periods”.
“We believe we have great players, a great squad, a great manager and everything will be OK”.
The one thing that can be said though is that his players still seem to be fighting for him, and his captain, Ashley Williams, says they are fully behind their boss. We discuss that. He is supportive, he wants improvement, but he knows how things are.
‘We wouldn’t be the first club to go through a hard time, but it’s about trusting what I do here’.
City have won just once in nine Premier League matches and face a tough-looking run of fixtures, starting with Sunday’s trip to Liverpool, although Sky sources say there is no imminent threat to his job.
“Of course, results are the be-all and end-all in this league”. Talk about performances, football in general, what went well, what didn’t go well, what has to be improved and how we go about that as a group.

“The only opinions that matter are those of the club, those that are in control of what happens at Swansea City”, added Monk. “Everything else that comes out is speculation from people who don’t know us and don’t know how we work”.
