According to the Monroe Evening News, a 27-year-old Newport man has been arrested for the crime.
The party where Ms. Bruck was last seen was in a rural area at 3587 Post Rd. and was attended by about 600 people.
A press conference is scheduled for 11 p.m. Friday to announce “new developments” in the case of Chelsea Bruck, who was abducted and killed in 2014.
“Surveillance was set up on the suspect’s residence today at 2:55 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County jail and interviewed”, Malone said.
“We believe he acted alone”, Malone said.
Bruck’s body was found April 24, 2015 – after an extensive six-month search and the distribution of more than 1 million leaflets – in a wooded lot in Ash Township, 12 miles from the party in Frenchtown Township, where the woman from the small town of Maybee was last seen October 26, 2014.
The man’s identity was not being released, pending his arraignment on Monday.
She left with him about 3 a.m., at a time in the morning many other guests had left.
Flyers were put up by the community and a ground search began to intensify in the search for the young woman, but nothing was found until April 24, 2015. Construction workers found the body in a wooded area near train tracks. She was last seen wearing a Poison Ivy costume consisting on black trousers and a leaf-covered top.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner ruled that Miss Bruck died of blunt force trauma, but no weapon was used.
