But the news out of Florida ramped up concerns.

The state’s first diagnosed case of the Zika virus was reported in a Missoula County woman in February.
American Airlines says pregnant customers and their companions traveling to a destination in Latin America or the Caribbean affected by the virus can request a refund for tickets purchased on or before March 31, as long as they provide a doctor’s note confirming the pregnancy. “But this is not the strategy we want to follow”.
That could mean that, at least in some areas, the growth of Zika could be exponential.

As of July 27, The DPH had tested 491 CT patients for the Zika virus, including 379 pregnant women.

Use an EPA-registered mosquito repellent that contains DEET while you are outdoors. The Asian Tiger mosquito, common in the area, has a small flight range and is seen in and around homes, Pavlovich said. The control board relies on several methods, including mosquito surveillance, education, eliminating breeding sites, biological control, pesticides, spray trucks and “airplane spraying”, the city says. According to the CDC, the chemical has been widely used to control mosquito populations in the United States, including in Miami, Tampa and New Orleans. The aggressive species is found naturally in marine habitats and can eat more than 40 larvae a day and can be added to tires, barrels and cisterns, the city says.
