Montreal impact ‘in contact’ with chelsea over role for didier drogba
Didier Drogba might be headed back to Chelsea after all. Regardless, the Impact will not willingly let go of him after he helped get the team to the playoffs and beat Toronto FC in the first round.

However, the Canadian team are hoping Drogba remains with them until the end of his MLS contract.
During Chelsea’s match against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, the 37-year-old Blues legend was spotted sitting next to owner Roman Abramovich and interim manager Guus Hiddink.
Hiddink, for his part, said he is keen to work with Drogba but admitted that contractual matters are out of his hands.
Drogba made the move to the United States in July on a designated player contract for two seasons and scored 11 goals in 11 appearances for the Impact.
“We understand his attachment, but our objective is to have him back for another season”, Montreal tweeted. There has been a major disconnect between the club and the fans following the sacking of Mourinho and someone like Drogba could help bridge that gap. This situation is out of our control.
“I’d be happy to have him here”, Hiddink said.
“He is a legend, both in and (outside) of the club”, he added.
The former Chelsea player still has one year remaining on his deal in Montreal.

French soccer magazine France Football reported that the Impact’s star scorer is in negotiations with the Premier League club, for which he played for 10 seasons. So it’s nice for guys with these big hearts to connect them somehow with the club.
