Mookie Betts slams three homers for Red Sox against Orioles

Facing Baltimore reliever Ashur Tolliver, Ortiz smoked a 394-foot blast to right field to lead off the inning, increasing the Boston lead to 4-2.

David Ortiz crushed his 14th homer of 2016 in the eighth inning.

In his first start against the Orioles this season, Kelly picked up the win after giving up two runs in five innings of work. “I just feel like anything you leave over there, he’s going to hit it out”. “I’ve said in the past with guys like him, Davis, Trumbo, [Seattle Mariners slugger] Nelson Cruz, you might have one chance to sneak a fastball by them”. “Just trying to be me, and not trying to be someone who I’m not”.

Betts added a three-run drive in second inning. It was the third complete game this season for the knuckler, tying him for the major-league lead. “He had great stuff today”.

Adam Duvall’s first career two-homer game helped the Cincinnati Reds to a 11-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies. You can’t really predict where to swing.

Mookie Betts homered three times, one long ball each to left, center and right field, while making an out-of-nowhere catch in right field that can be compared only to the Superman-like dive Brock Holt made next to a lost Jonny Gomes at Fenway Park in 2014.

After retiring catcher Ryan Hanigan, Givens received a rude welcoming from Hernandez, who skied a 398-foot home run to right field, the first career blast for the 13th-ranked prospect in the Red Sox farm system. He accounted for five of Boston’s six runs and extended his hitting streak to four games.

They continued their six game streak against the Blue Jays in the first game of their series – largely due to Nathan Eovaldi who threw the first six innings with only two hits allowed gaining his fifth win.

“They’re a very aggressive team”. In their final game, they were at risk of a no-hitter in the seventh when Starlin Castro hit a two run homerun to jerk NY into a lead.

The deadlock lasted only until Bradley crushed Wilson’s third pitch of the following inning.

Betts now is on pace for 37 home runs, 125 RBIs and 153 runs scored this season – eye-popping, MVP-worthy numbers. Bogaerts was thrown out stealing, after a replay review, for the third out with Ortiz at the plate in the seventh. The southpaw went seven innings against Lehigh Valley, allowing only four hits and one earned run while striking out seven.

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t [think about that] because, you know, I’m in the big leagues. And it worked out for an RBI”.

The three home runs and five RBIs are both career highs for Betts.

Along with the Red Sox’s loss, Jackie Bradley Jr. broke his impressive 29 game hitting streak after batting 0-3, falling short of reaching Dom DiMaggio’s franchise record which sits at 34.
