Moore holds steady to take lead at John Deere Classic
Ryan Moore won the John Deere Classic Sunday for his fifth PGA Tour title, closing with a 4-under 67 for a two-stroke victory over Ben Martin.

Moore held a one-shot lead into the final round and was three clear of Morgan Hoffman heading into the back nine on Sunday.
“Not many mistakes, and if I did get in trouble, I kind of got myself out of it in pretty, I’d say, consistent, in a good way”, Johnson said.
“I was playing well and you hate to drop a shot on the last hole”, the four-time tour victor said. “It will be nice to get to sleep a little bit tomorrow and be well rested and just ready to get after it again tomorrow”.
After an accomplished amateur career, which included an NCAA individual championship, U.S. Amateur and U.S. Amateur Public Links titles in 2004, Moore earned his first win since November 2014 and first on American soil in nearly four years. This was Kim’s best finish of the season.
The 25-year-old Hughes, a former Kent State player from Hamilton, Ontario, birdied the final hole in hot conditions at Highland Springs for a 6-under 66 and a one-stroke victory over Richy Werenski.
At 6:30 a.m., before the thousands of fans and hundreds of golfers hit the course at TPC Deere Run for the last day of John Deere Classic, the sound of bagpipes traveled down the 18th fairway as the sun rose.
Moore said after the win he did not feel he was safely over the line until he holed the last putt. We could actually see just fine around the green and went ahead and played as normal from there. “This one, I liked how steady it was”.
Martin then made three birdies in a row at Nos. Two years ago at age 11, Li became the youngest qualifier in U.S. Women’s Open history. He’s winless on the PGA Tour. I’m searching for other ones right now.
It was Moore’s fifth PGA Tour win and broke a two year drought since the successful defence of his CIMB Classic title in Malaysia in 2014.
Johnson won the British Open past year for his 12th PGA Tour title.
Martin took advantage by starting the third round with five straight birdies and then closed with birdies on four of his last five holes.
In fourth place is Johnson Wagner at 14 under after scoring a four under 67.
The 26-year-old American is playing in his first PGA Tour event since earning his PGA card.
NCAA champion Aaron Wise was 11 under after a 63.
“It’s a great feeling”, he said on the PGA Tour website.

The field includes Zach Johnson, Steve Stricker, Keegan Bradley and Gary Woodland. The 49-year-old Stricker, a former University of IL player from Wisconsin, won the event in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Stricker said. “It’s wet”. If you hit it in the rough, it’s thick and lush.
