And that brings us to Friday night’s game against the White Sox.

Morales homered in the sixth with Paulo Orlando aboard.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Chris Sale got some unexpected help to get his 16th win.
Royals DH Kendrys Morales homered for his 1,000th career hit and drove in four runs, backing Danny Duffy who pitched into the eighth inning as the Royals beat the Chicago White Sox, 10-3 Sunday at Kauffman Stadium.
Sanchez had struck out in his first three at-bats before hitting a pitch frm Kelvin Herrera out to right with J.D. Shuck and Avisail Garcia aboard.
“He was a little better than I expected”, Yost said. “It was insane. That’s your team fighting for you right there; that’s your team fighting back”. “So, you never know if you’re going to win those because it’s vague”. These days you can see base runners and infielders talking and laughing between pitches. He’s now up to.261 with 38 home runs and 85 RBI.
“Sanchez has been up and down this year and there have been times when he hasn’t clicked”, White Sox manager Robin Ventura said.
“It’s always important for me and the team to try to get more than 200”, Quintana said. He’s got enough pop. I think that’s something that’ll come with him.
A trio of lackluster starts has taken him out of it.
His afternoon started with three of the first four Royals reaching, but he allowed just one run because Alex Avila cut down Whit Merrifield on a stolen-base attempt.
“No doubt”, Sale said. “I felt pretty good about where I was able to throw the ball and how it went”.
Dillon Gee followed Jason Vargas with 4.1 innings of relief, allowing 5 hits, 0 walks, and 1 earned run with 5 strikeouts.
“It was a bad day for me”.
In his past four starts, Volquez has given up 20 earned runs on 32 hits and nine walks in 18 1/3 innings for a 9.82 ERA. The Royals have lost five straight to begin their eight-game homestand.
Herrera (2-5) blew his third save in 14 chances.
“I’m glad it’s over now”, Yost said. “It was a little off”. I got a little exhausted. “This is a tough league”. “I just have to be patient with it”. “The more the guys get on base, there’s more opportunity for me”. “It was a grind”. The error led to Cuthbert and Perez scoring to tie the game. After a double by Cheslor Cuthbert, Tyler Saladino made a critical throwing error on a single hit by Hunter Dozier. Tony Wolters had three hits for the Rockies, who swept the heavy-hearted Padres. The White Sox scored off a Tim Anderson run, batted in by Melky Cabrera in the top of the first. RHP Nick Tepesch, who the Royals designated for assignment September 6, cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Omaha.
Right-handed pitcher, Chien-Ming Wang, was also reinstated from the 15-day disabled list and was designated for assignment. He was scheduled to throw batting practice Friday, but a pregame rain canceled that.
His ERA is second-best among American League starters, and his 3.43 FIP ranks fourth alongside White Sox teammate Jose Quintana.
