Nusra Front, one of Syria’s most powerful Islamist rebel groups, often operates close to other groups, making it potentially hard to prove whether strikes have targeted it. On Friday, Nusra urged insurgents to intensify their attacks on Assad and his allies.

Twin suicide bombings meanwhile killed six people outside a town in Hama province, where ISIS is present, state news agency SANA said.

Russia, which says it intends to continue strikes against areas that are not covered by the truce, said it would suspend all flights over Syria for a day to ensure no wrong targets were hit by mistake.

The co-chairs of the International Support Group for Syria (ISSG) – Russia and the United States – will be responsible for addressing violations, not the U.N.

The airstrikes come a day after a cessation of hostilities came into effect.

The Center aims to assist armed groupings in Syria in concluding ceasefire agreements, maintain the truce regime, control its observance and organize the delivery of humanitarian cargoes to civilians.

Russian Federation recently opened the coordination center at its Hmeymim airbase in Latakia in an attempt to facilitate talks and the implementation of a monitoring ceasefire mechanism between Damascus and different opposing parties.

Opposition parties in Syria have claimed as many as 15 violations of the truce on Saturday alone, pointing the finger at Syrian government forces, along with the Russians. It includes the Syrian government and the main opposition bloc.

A temporary truce in Syria fighting that started at midnight Damascus time (2200 GMT) on Saturday seemed largely to hold, Reuters reported.

Since the beginning of civil war in Syria in 2011, the government has tried to resolve the crisis in a political way, Sabet al-Mohammad, a military analyst and retired Syrian army general, told the Tasnim News Agency. Some of the stronger forces in Syria, including the terrorist groups Islamic State and Nusra Front, rejected the negotiation and are not subject to the ceasefire.

Earlier, IS fighters reportedly stormed a northern border town captured by Kurdish fighters several months ago, prompting an outbreak of fighting. The YPG statement said its fighters had killed the attackers after hours of fighting.

State TV said Syrian warplanes attacked Isil oil tanker trucks in the eastern province of Deir el-Zour.

Also on Sunday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the fight against terrorism should be conducted through joint global efforts, and that double standards, selfish ambitions, and disputes need to be set aside.

Rudskoi said more than 6,000 fighters had joined the truce deal, saying the Russians handed their lists to the United States counterparts.
