More Candidates to Coach the Saints if Sean Payton Leaves

Coach Payton is happy with how his squad finished the year.

That is exactly what Sean Payton did in New Orleans and that experience, along with his no-nonsense style and knack for coaching up quarterbacks, is what the Browns sorely need.

That being said, it’ll be interesting to see if interested National Football League teams will actually give in to the Saints draft pick demands or whether they’ll look to call their bluff and see if Payton gets released from his current contract entirely-which has 2 years, at $8 million per year remaining.

The defense is the biggest weakness of this team right now. They are unacceptable numbers for any side, and the defense has simply been to much to overcome for Drew Brees and his offense.

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton is expected to meet with general manager Mickey Loomis on Monday regarding his future.

That’s the very-specific tag attached to Payton’s price per Glazer, meaning it’s totally possible the Saints would be willing to take that and send their coach somewhere else.

Those rumors have already started to swirl with the Saints reportedly asking for a second round pick in exchange for the head coach.

The 49ers, Eagles and Chargers have been linked to Payton, who is 87-57 in nine seasons with the Saints, including one Super Bowl win in 2009.
