Israeli troops thwarted two attacks in the West Bank on Friday, killing a Palestinian who tried to ram his vehicle into Israeli soldiers and wounding a second assailant who opened fire elsewhere in the territory, the military said.

A third Palestinian died in clashes with Israeli troops on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel, according to Gaza health officials. At least 112 Palestinians have died by Israeli fire; 75 of them said by Israel to be attackers while the others died in clashes with security forces.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said that 85% of Palestinians who were killed by Israeli troops since the beginning of unrest in early October were “extra-judicially executed”.

“A violent riot is taking place in Hebron”.

The sources said Israeli soldiers and settlers opened fire at 21-year-old Yusri Meswadi after he allegedly stabbed and injured an Israeli soldier and a settler in the Old City neighborhood in downtown Hebron.

The bloodshed is the latest in nearly three months of near-daily Palestinian attacks on Israelis and other Israeli-Palestinian violence. The Israeli military said troops used nonlethal means in an attempt to disperse hundreds of Palestinians trying to damage the fence before forces fired in the group.

Almost 120 Palestinians and about 20 Israelis have been killed in the recent wave of clashes between Palestinians and Israelis since the start of October.

About an hour beforehand, a Palestinian fired at Israeli forces at a crossing between the northern West Bank and Israel and was shot and wounded, the Israeli defence ministry said.

Interior Minister Silvan Shalom said Israel could not contemplate compromising its security by accepting a Palestinian state that would be a threat to it.

On Friday, protesters in Silwad northeast of Ramallah called for Israel to return the bodies.
